Standing 12 to 18 inches tall and about two years old, this evergreen sapling comes with a sleek white pot and a bag of our Little Saps mulch and soil blend. It includes everything needed for the recipient to plant right away, whether on their own or with others.

Tree Sapling Planting Basics (for the Recipient)

Little Saps are evergreen trees and cannot survive indoors. They need an outdoor home as soon as possible after arrival, either planted directly in the ground or using the planting kit. It can stay in the pot provided for 1 - 2 years before being transplanted to a larger planter with drainage - with a mix of ½ potting soil (ideally with slow-release fertilizer) and ½ pine bark mulch) - or planted directly in the ground. Fresh air, sunlight, water, and seasonal changes are all essential to healthy growth.

Caring as Your Sapling Grows

As the tree grows, it will change with the seasons. Some evergreens naturally bronze in winter and return to bright green in spring. Soil should be kept moist but not soggy, and young trees may need protection during extreme weather. Over time, the sapling will need either a larger planter or a permanent home in the ground. Care instructions are included so the recipient can feel confident supporting their tree as it grows. If your sapling doesn’t take root, we’ll send you a new one within 30 days.
