A Personalized Housewarming Gift for Putting Down Roots
A new home is more than a new address. It’s a place where routines begin, memories are made, and life takes root. A Little Saps Housewarming Gift Tree celebrates that beginning with something living they can nurture as they settle into their new home.
Personalized with your own message, the tree can be planted in the yard or enjoyed outdoors in a container as it grows. Over time, it can become part of the place they call home—a lasting reminder of an exciting new chapter.
A Housewarming Plant for a New Place to Call Home
A Housewarming Gift Tree is a thoughtful way to celebrate:
First-time homeowners
Friends or family moving into a new home
A couple buying their first home together
Someone relocating to a new city or community
A new apartment, condo, or townhome
A vacation or second home
If you’re looking for first home gifts for couples, a living tree is especially fitting. Instead of simply filling their new home with another thing, you’re giving them something they can plant and watch become part of the place itself.
Personalize Your Housewarming Gift Tree
Every Housewarming Gift Tree includes your choice of a pre-printed housewarming gift tag and a keepsake card featuring your personal message.
Your message might welcome them home, congratulate them on the move, celebrate the beginning of a new chapter, or wish them many happy years and memories in their new place.

Why Give a Plant for a Housewarming Gift?
Few gifts capture the idea of putting down roots quite like a living tree. As its roots become established and its branches grow, it can become part of the place the recipient now calls home.
For someone considering a plant for a housewarming gift, a Little Sap offers something more lasting than a typical indoor plant. These living evergreens are meant to grow outdoors, where they can eventually become part of the recipient’s landscape.
Whether planted in the ground or kept outdoors in an appropriate container while young, the tree can grow alongside the memories made in their new home.
A Gift Tree Selected for Their Growing Region
Little Saps are living evergreen trees selected to grow outdoors. Because different tree varieties thrive in different climates, our tree experts choose a variety suited to the recipient’s growing region. This gives each Little Sap the best opportunity to grow and thrive in its new home.
Have a favorite tree variety in mind? You can share your preference in the Order Notes at checkout, and we’ll accommodate your request when the variety is well suited to the recipient’s growing region.

Little Saps are living evergreen trees and need an outdoor home. Place your tree outside in a sunny or partially shaded location where it can experience fresh air, natural light, and seasonal changes.
If your tree arrived in a pot: Your Little Sap can remain in the pot it arrives in for about a year before it will need a larger container or a permanent home in the ground. Be sure to remove the plastic drainage plug from the bottom of the pot so excess water can drain freely.
Allow the soil to dry between waterings rather than keeping it constantly wet. During periods of regular rainfall, additional watering may not be necessary, while periods of drought may require more frequent watering. Your tree will also need more water during sunny, warm weather, when it loses more moisture through transpiration, and during periods of active growth. It will generally need less water during winter or extended periods of cool, cloudy weather.
If your tree arrived in a bag: Plant your sapling directly in the ground or transfer it to an outdoor container with proper drainage. If using a container, we recommend a well-draining soil mix:
Half potting soil, ideally with slow-release fertilizer
Half pine bark mulch
Whichever option you choose, avoid overwatering. Soil should be allowed to dry somewhat between waterings, and your tree should never sit in standing water.
