A New Baby Gift That Grows Along With Them
The arrival of a baby marks the beginning of a whole new story. A Little Saps New Baby Gift Tree celebrates that beginning with something living that can be planted and nurtured as the child grows.
Over the years, the tree can become part of the family’s home and landscape—a lasting reminder of just how small both the baby and the tree were when their stories began.
A Meaningful Gift for a New Baby and New Parents
A New Baby Gift Tree is a thoughtful way to celebrate:
The birth of a baby
New parents
A new grandchild
An adoption
A growing family
A baby shower or welcome-home celebration
A baby’s first birthday or another early milestone
When you’re looking for baby gifts for new parents, a living tree offers something for the whole family to enjoy. Parents can plant and care for the tree while their child is young and watch both change through the years.
Among all the new baby gifts that arrive during those first busy weeks, a Little Sap offers something that can become more meaningful with time.
Personalize Your New Baby Gift Tree
Every New Baby Gift Tree includes your choice of a pre-printed new baby gift tag and a keepsake card featuring your personal message.
Your message might welcome the baby, congratulate the new parents, share your hopes for the years ahead, or simply express how happy you are for the growing family.

Why Give a Living Tree for a New Baby?
Babies and young trees have something beautiful in common: both start small, grow and change year after year, and become part of the story of a family and home.
A living tree offers a meaningful way to commemorate a child’s arrival. As the years pass, the family can watch the tree grow alongside their child, creating a living reminder of those earliest days.
Whether planted in the yard or kept outdoors in an appropriate container while young, a Little Sap can become a keepsake that grows well beyond the baby years.
A Gift Tree Selected for Their Growing Region
Little Saps are living evergreen trees selected to grow outdoors. Because different tree varieties thrive in different climates, our tree experts choose a variety suited to the recipient’s growing region. This gives each Little Sap the best opportunity to grow and thrive in its new home.
Have a favorite tree variety in mind? You can share your preference in the Order Notes at checkout, and we’ll accommodate your request when the variety is well suited to the recipient’s growing region.

Little Saps are living evergreen trees and need an outdoor home. Place your tree outside in a sunny or partially shaded location where it can experience fresh air, natural light, and seasonal changes.
If your tree arrived in a pot: Your Little Sap can remain in the pot it arrives in for about a year before it will need a larger container or a permanent home in the ground. Be sure to remove the plastic drainage plug from the bottom of the pot so excess water can drain freely.
Allow the soil to dry between waterings rather than keeping it constantly wet. During periods of regular rainfall, additional watering may not be necessary, while periods of drought may require more frequent watering. Your tree will also need more water during sunny, warm weather, when it loses more moisture through transpiration, and during periods of active growth. It will generally need less water during winter or extended periods of cool, cloudy weather.
If your tree arrived in a bag: Plant your sapling directly in the ground or transfer it to an outdoor container with proper drainage. If using a container, we recommend a well-draining soil mix:
Half potting soil, ideally with slow-release fertilizer
Half pine bark mulch
Whichever option you choose, avoid overwatering. Soil should be allowed to dry somewhat between waterings, and your tree should never sit in standing water.
